So the Veyron has undisputedly had a run as the one of the pinnacles of motoring of this era. Around a track it’s massive sheer girth may have meant it was far from a race car posed to find its way around the ‘Ring, but as a technical feat, its 1000bhp, 8 litre, v16 engined, four wheel turning, quad radiated construction has meant that the behemoth initially tore up acceleration and top speed records along with its seven figure price tag.
The rumour-mill is alive with possibilities of the next machine to come out of Bugatti’s lair, one thing that is consistent is the name; the Chiron. Minor qualms such as the off-centre seating position will undoubtedly be addressed, and it’s likely that the supercar will retain features such as the Bugatti grille and the powerplant that was found in the Veyron in some form, but most details there on out are unconfirmed.
Photos of a Veyron lapping the Nürburgring emerged with a rig assumed to be carrying telemetry for aerodynamics mounted above its engine bay which accelerated the feeling that something big will be coming.
Even a quick look at google will identify a multitude of concept renders, most seemingly based on the Veyron, the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo 6 concept and what seems to bare the headlights from a Jaguar XF:
One thing is for sure, the price tag has the probability of breaking the $2M barrier; and we’ve little doubt that Bugatti would seek to surpass the legacy laid out by the Veyron, so the rumours of two all electric turbochargers installed alongside two conventional ones, 1500bhp and a 0-60 time of 2.2 seconds may not be too far from the truth!
